Sunny Ade, Ebenezer Obey Squash Rumour Of Age-Long Rift

April 12, (THEWILL) – Legendary Juju artiste, Sunday Adeniyi Adegeye, professionally known as King Sunny Ade, finally put to rest the alleged age long rivalry and supremacy battle between him and Ebenezer Obey –Fabiyi on Sunday, April 3, 2022, after gracing the 80th birthday celebration of the music icon.

Adegeye was one of the guests of the Fabiyis as they marked the 80th birthday of the musical icon at Decross Gospel Mission church headquarters in Agege, Lagos State.

Seated next to the celebrant, Adegeye joined other guests in the colourful aso ebi of the day. His signature dance steps were noticeable and applauded as he had fun and stayed till the close of the event. The two music icons were whispering to each other’s ear and smiling cheerfully, while the event lasted.

Many of their fans were excited to see the two of them relating together and celebrating each other. This development is coming after many years of rumoured rivalry between the two artistes. The two were said not to be in talking terms for a very long time, until Fabiyi started his evangelistic ministry about 30 years ago.

Anytime either of the two artistes is performing at a nightclub, the event would be disrupted by overzealous fans and accusing fingers would be pointed at the other artiste as being responsible. There was hardly any music that would be released that many would not allude to that one of the Juju artiste is referring to the other person.

At a stage, when they were not in talking terms, two elders in the Juju music industry, Adeolu Akinsanya and I.K Dairo had to mediate peace between the two parties. A few years after their alleged rivalry died down, a concert was staged, where the two artistes played together to celebrate Nigeria at 50.
