October 07, (THEWILL) – Erik ten Hag’s substitutes for Manchester United, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial, helped defeat Francis Uzoho’s Omonia Nicosia 3-2, in the UEFA Europa League.
On Thursday in Cyprus, the hosts seized the lead after 34 minutes when Karim Ansarifard rifled into the goal after a swift counterattack to stun their more prestigious opponents.
However, Ten Hag made substitutions for the second half, and Rashford picked up a pair of goals either side of a goal from Martial to give the Red Devils all three points. Nikolas Panagiotou added a late consolation goal for Omonia.
United is currently second in Group E, three points behind group leader Real Sociedad, after winning six of their past seven away Europa League games.
On Sunday, they are due to play Everton, while on Monday, Omonia will take on AEL Limassol as both teams resume their domestic schedules.
