March 08, (THEWILL) – Chelsea produced a stunning comeback to knock out Borussia Dortmund and reach the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals.
Raheem Sterling and Kai Havertz scored in a 2-0 win at Stamford Bridge that saw the Blues progress 3-1 on aggregate. It began after a delayed start as Chelsea dominated from the off and the goalscorers should have scored more than once each.
Sterling had an early chance but missed, while Havertz hit the post and had a goal disallowed for offside. Dortmund threatened to pull one back but Jude Bellingham missed a sitter, and Conor Gallagher also had a goal ruled out for offside.
Chelsea held on for a famous victory and will now face a tough challenge in the last eight. They travel to Leicester City in the Premier League on Saturday before returning to Champions League action in April.
Meanwhile, Dortmund will look to get back to winning ways in the Bundesliga as they face Schalke in the Revierderby.
