November 11, (THEWILL) – Tottenham Hotspur’s English Premier League title aspirations were checked back after a dramatic late Wolverhampton Wanderers comeback snatched a thrilling 2-1 victory at Molineux.

Brennan Johnson’s early strike had given Spurs a 1-0 lead, but the visitors rode their luck as resilient Wolves constantly threatened without reward. However, Pablo Sarabia and Mario Lemina both found the net in stoppage time to complete a sensational turnaround.

The result leaves Tottenham one point adrift of league leaders Manchester City, having now suffered successive defeats after their 4-1 thrashing by Chelsea. In contrast, Wolves built on recent progress under manager Gary O’Neil to secure a deserved victory after controversially losing 2-1 to Sheffield United last time out.

Missing key men James Maddison and Micky van de Ven to injury did not initially faze Spurs, who went ahead after just three minutes when Johnson turned in Pedro Porro’s cross. However, Wolves refused to buckle and created several openings, with Ben Davies blocking bravely and keeper Guglielmo Vicario also called into action.

The second half followed a similar pattern as the hosts dominated but lacked cutting edge, with Hwang Hee-Chan guilty of a shocking miss when clean through. However, Sarabia and Lemina both found the net with time running out to steal the points in dramatic fashion.
