June 29, (THEWILL) – Tottenham Hotspur’s negotiations with Everton regarding a deal for Richarlison are going well, and Tottenham hopes to close the deal before the Toffees resume preseason in early July.
This transfer window, the Brazilian has emerged as a top attacking target for Spurs and talks with Everton are still pending with the Merseyside club seeking £60m and Tottenham not deterred by the asking price. Antonio Conte’s side intended to include players in the deal, but it seems more and more likely that any agreement for Richarlison will simply include a cash payment.
While Antonio Conte’s non-internationals will gather on Monday at Hotspur Way, Spurs hope to finalise Richarlison’s signing before he resumes preseason training at Everton’s Finch Farm base.
One basis for the need to expedite action in the process is that Tottenham is wary that delay may allow their north London arch-rivals Arsenal rekindle their own interest in Richarlison after Chelsea edged the Gunners in the hunt for Raphinha, so they certainly want to make sure the 25-year-old does not get away from them.
This is especially crucial as 22-year-old Nicolo Zaniolo’s desire to remain in Italy has put a stop to Spurs’ negotiations with Roma for the player. This summer, a transfer to Juventus seems more likely for Zaniolo.
