March 19, (THEWILL) – Usain Bolt has stated that he would gladly trade his successes on the track for the chance to win the UEFA Champions League.

Bolt, who is widely regarded as the greatest sprinter of all time and holds the world records in the 100 metres, 200m, and 4×100m relay, won eight Olympic gold medals over the course of his career. However, the Jamaican is a passionate football fan and has played in charity matches and even had a brief football career in Australia.

“I love football that much. To win the Champions League, score in the final, would be brilliant,” Bolt said. “It was something I always wanted to try. I watched and loved the game so much – why not give it a try?”

Although Bolt’s football career was brief, he stated that he had no regrets and enjoyed the experience. “I was very serious but it didn’t work out as I wanted it to. I really enjoyed the effort and the process,” he said. When asked what position he preferred, Bolt jokingly replied, “I was a striker – of course! The pace, I’m quicker than [Marcus] Rashford!”

The former sprinter’s love for football has been well-documented, and he even captained the World XI during the Soccer Aid charity match at Old Trafford in 2018. Bolt is a Manchester United fan, and he has previously stated that it would be a dream come true to play for the club.
