Sports Ministry Forms Committee To Review Medal Table At NSF Delta 2022

January 15, (THEWILL) – The Ministry of Sports and Youth Development has announced the formation of an independent committee to review the medal table at the recently concluded 21st National Sports Festival (NSF) tagged Delta 2022.

The decision to review the table is coming on the heels of complaints received by the Ministry regarding the medal table computation. It meant the Ministry had to take further action to determine what went wrong and establish the correct table.

The committee will be made up of experts who have managed the technical arm of previous festivals including Mrs Hauwa-Kulu, Madaki Elias Gora, Brig. Gen. Emmanuel Okaro (Chairman), Lekan Alabi, the Statistician of the Ministry, and a representative of the Delta State Sports Commission.

The committee’s mandate includes determining what went wrong with the medal table computation from the standpoint of knowledge and experience of previous festivals, establishing the correct medal table by eliminating any double entries and inaccuracies and making recommendations to guide against future occurrences.

The Ministry stated that this process is normal in situations such as this and that it is important to resolve any challenges with the festival medal table computation, even after the event has concluded. The Committee is expected to present its findings and recommendations to the Ministry in the shortest possible time.
