December 03, (THEWILL) – South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol said he would lift the martial law imposed after parliament declared his declaration invalid.

THEWILL reports that President Yoon declared that the law is to safeguard a liberal South Korea from the threats posed by North Korea’s communist forces and to eliminate anti-state elements plundering people’s freedom and happiness.

But lawmakers with 190 of its 300 members present at parliament passed a motion directing the President to rescind his decision.
