January 16, (THEWILL) – A Los Angeles Lakers jersey worn by basketball legend Kobe Bryant during the 2007/2008 season, when he won the Most Valuable Player award, is set to be auctioned off at Sotheby’s for an estimated $7 million (£5.8 million/€6.5 million).
This is the same jersey worn by Bryant in the iconic photo of him grabbing the jersey and screaming in excitement after securing a 14-point lead over the Denver Nuggets. The jersey itself has become a cultural icon and has been featured in countless murals and artworks.
Additionally, the jersey is rare as it has been signed by Bryant with his first name on the stitched number on the back. The auction is set to take place from February 2nd to 9th, with the jersey also on public display at Sotheby’s New York during the first week of February.
