October 23, (THEWILL) – Tottenham Hotspur returned to the top of the English Premier League table with a composed 2-0 victory over Fulham at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Monday evening. Goals from Son Heung-min and James Maddison either side of half-time secured the three points for Spurs against their London rivals.

The home side dominated the match, creating numerous chances throughout. Son grabbed his seventh goal of the season in the 36th minute, finishing coolly after being played through by Richarlison, following a Fulham defensive error. Son then turned provider early in the second half, setting up Maddison for Tottenham’s second goal in the 54th minute. It was the duo’s latest effective combination as they continued to forge a fruitful partnership in attack.

Manager Ange Postecoglou will be delighted with his side’s professional performance. They were defensively solid, limiting Fulham’s chances even with the second-half introduction of Alex Iwobi, and clinically took their opportunities in attack. Summer signing Guglielmo Vicario was excellent in goal for Spurs, making several key saves to preserve the clean sheet.

The win sends Tottenham back to the summit of the table, with the potential to go five points clear if they can beat Crystal Palace away on Friday night before the rest of the League plays on the weekend. Postecoglou’s project continues to gather momentum as his new-look Spurs side lay down an early marker in the title race.

Before kick-off, a minute’s silence was impeccably observed by all present at the stadium in memory of the innocent civilians killed in the recent Israel-Hamas conflict.
