October 31, (THEWILL) – A combined team of military personnel have foiled an attempt by Boko Haram terrorists to infiltrate a military base in Wawa town, Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State.
According to a reliable security source, the terrorists made attempt to forcefully gain entry into the military base, to free some of their members detained in the base.
The source said the heavily armed terrorists came into the town in large numbers, shooting sporadically to scare the military men in the base.
They were, however, countered by the soldiers, who secured the services of their colleagues in the air force, to deploy Tucano fighter jets.
“Some soldiers were injured, but no one died”, the source said, adding that eight members of the terrorists were neutralised.
