Sokoto Gov Commends USAID State2State Over Civic Engagement On Budget Implementation

November 16, (THEWILL) – Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto state has lauded USAID State2State support, for improving citizens engagement and participation in budget process.

The governor made the commendation at the 2024 budget consultative meetings with citizens on budget preparation and policies implementation, through town hall meeting held in Sokoto.

He further pledged commitment to USAID State2State Open Government Partnership, OGP, projects implementation in the state through fiscal responsibility, accountability and transparency.

Aliyu, who presided over the consultative meeting while receiving inputs from stakeholders, declared that “this platform has become a meeting point that will sustain Sokoto state fiscal responsibility.

“We shall continue to partner with the Governors Forum, USAID State2State and other development partners in transparency and accountability, for the benefit of our citizens.”

Dr Auwal Ahmed Musa, who spoke on behalf of CSO OGP, appreciated the governor for sustaining the visibility of Sokoto state on the global lists of Open Government Partnership, OGP.

Auwal said, “At the level of the CSOs, we are happy that the government is pursuing its 9-point agenda to the letter. It is worthy to note that USAID State2State has impacted massively on health and education in Tambuwal, Wamakko, Gwadabawa, Sokoto North and South local government areas respectively.”

There were goodwill remarks from development partners, the academia, representatives of women groups, workers and people living with disability, who thanked the governor for restoring their monthly allowance.
