February 13, (THEWILL) – Nantes won a hard-fought Ligue 1 match against Reims, with Super Eagles attacker Moses Simon scoring the game’s only goal.

In a middle table duel, the Yellow Canaries hosted Reims at the Stade de la Beaujoire. Nantes came into the match in stronger form, having won three of their previous five games, while Reims had lost three of their previous five.

Nantes dominated the game from the start, taking the lead after just 17 minutes through Super Eagles forward Simon, whose fantastic free-kick over the wall, beat Predrag Rajkovic in between the sticks for Reims.

For the entire first half, Nantes had the upper hand, controlling more than 60% of the possession. But, in the second half, Reims came out firing, forcing Nantes to hold their ground to maintain their lead.

It did not help the situation for Reims that they were down to 10-men after just 15 minutes of football. Referee Johan Hamel flashed centre-back Yunis Abdelhamid a red card, sending him to an early bath from the first half.

Then, in the 73rd minute, Simon was taken off and replaced by Jean-Kevin Augustin. Nantes held off all of Reims’ attacks to earn a 1-0 victory. The win means Nantes is now in 9th place, two points behind the Europa Conference League playoff berths.
