November 09, (THEWILL) – Atletico Madrid have received a boost ahead of a crucial period, with manager Diego Simeone agreeing a new long-term contract until 2027.
The 53-year-old Argentine has established himself as the most successful coach in the club’s history since joining in December 2011. During Simeone’s tenure, Atletico have won two La Liga titles, the Copa del Rey, two Europa League trophies, two European Super Cups and a Spanish Super Cup.
Simeone has also guided Atletico to two Champions League finals in 2014 and 2016, establishing the club as one of Europe’s elite. After over 600 matches in charge, Simeone has proven himself integral to Atletico’s recent success.
With the contract extension, Atletico secured the services of their iconic manager as they seek further glory. Simeone will be tasked with bringing more silverware to the Wanda Metropolitano as he enters his second decade at the helm.
