SAN FRANCISCO, August 14, (THEWILL) – Fatimoh Olanrewaju, a housewife, has been arrested by the Anti-Human Trafficking Department of the Ogun State Police Command for assaulting her five year-old step son, Iyanu Olanrewaju, leaving him with fractured arm and legs.

The suspect, now in custody of the Anti-Human Trafficking Department of the police command, was said to have committed the crime at Onihale village, along old Abeokuta-Lagos expressway while the boy is currently receiving treatment at the Federal Medical Centre, Idi – Aba, Abeokuta.

THEWILL gathered that Iyanu was first taken to Ifo General Hospital after the attack, but later referred to the Federal Medical Centre, Abeokuta as a result of the grave harm suffered.

Villagers confirmed that the stepmother maltreats the innocent child always saying they had to invite the police when they could not bear the injuries regularly being inflicted on the boy anymore.

Iyanu’s father, Idowu Olanrewaju, a butcher, told reporters that he was shocked by the cruelty of his wife to the boy and appealed for financial assistance from the public to enable him settle the boy’s hospital bills.

Meanwhile, Child Network Protection (CPN), an umbrella body of Non-Governmental Organisations in Ogun State, has picked interest in the case and has also taken over the medical bills of the patient.

The State Coordinator, Peju Osoba, said the victim, who is gradually responding to treatment, would still be needing financial support, pointing out that he might be spending months on admission considering his present condition.

THEWILL gathered that the biological mother of the victim reportedly divorced his father about two years ago, and the boy had been living with his stepmother and father.
