SAN FRANCISCO, February 28, (THEWILL) – National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Ali Modu Sheriff, on Tuesday, resumed duties at the national secretariat of the party amidst tight security.
THEWILL reports that a number of Policemen and officers of the Nigerian Civil and Security Defence Corps (NCSDC) were seen in strategic positions within and outside the secretariat building, while some took positions in adjoining streets.
Also, a truck belonging to the NCSDC was used to block the road leading to the main gate of the secretariat to reduce inflow of traffic into the street while some vehicles were searched before entry.
Sheriff arrived the secretariat about mid-day accompanied by his Deputy, Dr. Cairo Ojougboh; the National Auditor of the party, Adewole Adeyanju; Imo Senator, Hope Uzodinma; and a retinue of aides.
His first assignment was to receive a group of party women from Imo State who came to pay a solidarity visit, singing praises of Sheriff and Uzodinma throughout their meeting with the party chairman.
Sheriff assured the visiting women of a more organised PDP under his leadership, saying that his mission was to return the party to the grassroots, particularly the women and the youths.
Obviously, Sheriff has ignored the call.
