Embattled National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Senator Ali-Modu Sheriff on Saturday met behind closed doors with former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo at the latter’s Hilltop Presidential Residence in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital.
Sheriff who arrived Obasanjo’s residence at 11:05am in a convoy of four cars headed straight to Obasanjo’s inner room for the closed door meeting which lasted about an hour.
The security operatives attached to Obasanjo’s residence allowed only the SUV in which Sheriff was riding into the premises while other vehicles were asked to park outside the residence.
Sheriff and the PDP National Caretaker Committee Chairman, Senator Ahmed Makarfi have been dragging the leadership of the party with each other.
The factional chairman’s visit to Obasanjo may not be unconnected with the crisis rocking the nation’s main opposition party.
