September 24, (THEWILL) – Following their 2-1 victory over Valladolid in the 7th round of La Liga where Nigerian international, Chidera Ejuke, netted the winner, Sevilla players received a surprise in the dressing room. The club announced that they have extended the contract of Head Coach Javier García Pimienta until 2027.
Pimienta, who took charge of Sevilla this summer, led Las Palmas last season, finishing 16th in La Liga with 40 points from 38 matches. Under his leadership, Sevilla has secured two wins in seven matches, accumulating 8 points so far.
The players were delighted with the news, as it demonstrates the club’s faith in Pimienta’s vision for the team. The extension provides stability and continuity for Sevilla, allowing the coach to continue his work in shaping the squad and implementing his strategies.
“I’m thrilled to have the trust of the club and the players,” said Pimienta. “We’ve made a good start, but there is still a lot of work to do. I’m looking forward to continuing our journey together and building on the progress we’ve made so far.”
Sevilla’s management expressed their confidence in Pimienta’s leadership, praising his tactical acumen, man-management skills, and ability to develop young talent. The extension is seen as a testament to the club’s commitment to long-term success and stability.
