Senator Slams Gov Lalong Over Comment At Campaign Rally

January 28, (THEWILL) – The Senator representing Plateau North senatorial district in the National Assembly, Istyfanus Dung Gyang, has slammed Governor Simon Lalong, over his comment at the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign rally in Ilorin, Kwara State capital.

Governor Lalong, while addressing party members and supporters at the rally, had said that it is the turn of the APC presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, to “chop”.

Reacting, Senator Gyang said “the most embarrassing thing” that has happened to him as a Plateau citizen is Lalong’s recent shameless declaration that it is Tinubu’s turn to “chop”.

Senator Gyang expressed disappointment that the Governor of a State would reduce the essence of democracy and self-rule to simply “chopping” and self-service at a time global leadership is exploring technology and governance for the greater good of the people.

Addressing the PDP stakeholders during Caleb Mutfwang’s gubernatorial Town Hall meeting in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of the State, Senator Gyang urged the stakeholders to reject and frown at Lalong’s primitive kind of democracy by voting for the PDP from top to bottom in the forthcoming elections.

In his address to the stakeholders, the Plateau State governorship candidate of the PDP, Caleb Mutfwang, called on Nigerians to reject the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the February 25, and March 11 elections for inflicting pains and agony on average Nigerians due to socioeconomic policies that have no bearing with environmental realities.

Describing the lingering fuel scarcity as unnecessary and avoidable, Mutfwang assured the people that the only political party that will turn things around for good in Nigeria and Plateau State is the Peoples Democratic Party, which has a record of credible performance.

Mutfwang decried the upward trend of the State debt profile under Gov Lalong, noting that the state is indebted to a tone of about N200 billion.

He also noted that the state is the most backward in the country in terms of development, adding that the performance of Plateau students in the West Africa School Certificate Examination (WASCE) and the National Examination Council (NECO) has brought shame and disgrace to the people and promised that his administration will improve the education sector significantly.

Mutfwang assured Plateau people that he will protect, secure, and make them economically self-reliant, and accordingly reiterated his call to them to vote for the PDP in all the elective offices. He explained that everything within the ambit of the law would be explored to stop the bloodletting in Barkin-Ladi and other parts of Plateau State.

“Enough is enough”, he said, “of the bloodshed. We will do everything to stop the business of crisis merchants in the state.”

The Director General Atiku/Mutfwang Campaign Organization, Hon. Latep Dabang, who ditched the APC last year because the party “represents failed promises and miscarriage of hope,” said the APC is currently in turmoil and disarray and expressed certainty that the APC will be buried finally in the forthcoming polls.
