September 05, (THEWILL) – Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin, has unveiled plans to sponsor hundreds of Kano students to study Artificial Intelligence (AI), Cybersecurity, Forensic and Robotics Sciences in various institutions of higher learning abroad.

This was disclosed in a statement issued by the lawmaker’s Special Adviser on Media Affairs, Ismaila Mudasir, on Thursday, in Kano State.

Mudasir said the gesture was part of Senator Jibrin’s educational development programmes, especially for children of the downtrodden.

“My foundation, the Barau I Jibrin Foundation (BIJF), has secured admissions for deserving students from the three Senatorial Districts of Kano State to pursue postgraduate programmes abroad.

“The programme is for all the sons and daughters of Kano citizens regardless of party affiliation,” the Media Adviser quoted the Senator as saying.

He said the Senator’s foundation had already secured admission for 70 students under the first batch of the programme, and that they would receive their letters of admission this September.

Mudasir said that the programme is part of efforts to promote academic excellence and stimulate Nigeria’s technological advancement.

The media aide also explained that the initiative would help in addressing the shortage of experts in those specialised fields.
