July 09, (THEWILL) – The Senator representing Imo North Senatorial District in the Upper legislative Chambers of the National Assembly, Engr. Patrick Ndubueze, has lauded Imo State Governor, Sen Hope Uzodimma, for his intervention into the lingering crisis between the Igbo and Yoruba businessmen at the Alaba International Market in Lagos State.
Addressing newsmen in Owerri, recently, Senator Ndubueze noted that Sen Uzodimma and his Lagos State counterpart, Governor Sanwo-Olu’s immediate involvement in the issue by setting up a reconciliation committee, averted what would have led to a total crisis between people of the two regions.
He stated that many Okigwe Zone businessmen and women, whose shops are also located in the Alaba International Market, are now happy that peaceful coexistence is returning to the area after the impasse that rocked the community in the past is being resolved.
The Federal legislator, therefore, urged people of the State, irrespective of platforms, to continue to support the Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, for having exhibited a sense of fatherly love to the businessmen and women.
“I want to use this opportunity to eulogize our Governor, distinguished Sen. Hope Uzodimma, for this show of unity of purpose on the traders of Igbo and Yoruba extractions at the Alaba International Market. Let me urge our people to remain calm and continue to do their businesses while the committee does its work,” he said.
It would be recalled that in its determination to end the soured relationship between the Igbos and Yorubas living in Lagos State, Governors, Hope Uzodimma and Babajide Sanwo-Olu set up a committee to broker a lasting peace among the people, which is now yielding positive results.
