January 03, (THEWILL) – The Director General of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Rev. Hon. James Anam has tasked political stakeholders to join hands with the state government to ensure the development of the state.

Rev Anam specifically urged the people of Calabar Municipal, to complement the efforts of Senator Bassey Otu’s administration on ensuring the security of lives and property of the people are within their domains.

This, he added, will guarantee an enabling environment for the smooth implementation of the lofty intentions of Governor Bassey Otu for the masses.

The SEMA Director General, made this known while hosting stakeholders across the ten wards of the Municipal in his office.

He said: “Though security remains a top priority for the government, it also requires a collective effort from key players in the society to guarantee the safety of lives and property of the citizens”, he said.

Speaking on behalf of stakeholders, after a personal donation of bags of rice and a cash gift from the Director General, a former Commissioner for Culture and Tourism in the state, Bishop Hon. Ekpenyong Iso applauded Governor Bassey Otu, for concerted efforts to restore the clean and green status of the capital city as well as the slots allotted to the municipality for an appointment.

Hon. Iso, an erstwhile Leader of the Calabar Municipal Legislative Council, appreciated the SEMA Director General for the sacrificial gesture, stressing that the initiative would assist in taking care of others at the ward levels.

He urged others to emulate the feat while awaiting the bumper package from the state government

Similarly, Rev. Hon. James Anam has appealed for patience and support from Cross Riverians, to enable the new administration to succeed in the execution of its humane policies and programmes designed to drive economic prosperity.

Rev. Anam stated this in Calabar when he played host to members of his Ward 2 political constituency in the spirit of the season.

He contended that “the Otu-led government has in stock various human interest driven initiatives meant to improve the living standards of our people while enhancing their economic base to promote self-reliance”

He revealed that he opted to host his immediate constituency, to ensure the season of sweetness trickled down to the grassroots, to replicate the political tradition of the Governor.

Responding on behalf of the Ward, the immediate past Counsellor of the ward, Hon. Arit Effiom, expressed delight over the benevolent gesture of the SEMA boss, that the Christmas package will strengthen the bond and unity in Ward 2.
