August 14, (THEWILL) – Indigenes and Fulani in the Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau have reportedly clashed, leading to the death of scores of people.

THEWILL gathered that some Fulani-bearing buses (heading towards Rukuba Road) were intercepted by Irigwe people and other sympathisers who were waiting to receive the corpses of six of their people (recently killed by suspected herdsmen in an attack) for a funeral.

Spokesman of the Plateau State Police Command, ASP Gabriel Ogaba, said, “Yes, there was unrest at Rukuba Road of Jos North LGA. Security personnel have been deployed to the area and have taken charge.

“At the moment the area is calm and residents are going about their lawful businesses. Details about what happened will be communicated shortly.”

As at the time of filing this report, there was no actual casualty figure, as the dead and injured have been taken away by security operatives.
