May 16, (THEWILL)- Gunmen suspected to be bandits have attacked the Goran Namaye community, Maradun local government area of Zamfara State.
A resident in the area, Salisu Lawali, told newsmen that the bandits, riding on motorcycles with heavy weapons, invaded the community at about 1:00 am on Thursday, operating from house to house.
“As I speak to you, many of our people are missing and we lost three of our men to this tragic incident. They came in large numbers and surrounded the whole town while some began house-to-house operations and chased our people, mainly women, into the bush.
“I wish to call on the Federal and Zamfara State governments to deploy security personnel to the area, in order to trace the hideout of these terrorists and rescue our people as we don’t have anything to pay for ransom”, he pleaded.
Authorities in Zamfara State including the State Police Command, have not issued any statement on the incident at the time of filing this report.
