Schauffele, Aberg Climb OWGR Rankings Following Strong Masters Performances

April 15, (THEWILL) – Scottie Scheffler’s victory at the 2024 Masters Tournament, has solidified his position as the world’s top-ranked golfer. The American won his second major championship, cementing his status as one of the dominant forces in the sport.

Ludvig Aberg of Sweden and Xander Schauffele had impressive performances at Augusta National, with Aberg finishing as the runner-up and Schauffele securing an eighth-place finish. These results have led to significant improvements in their respective positions in the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR).

Aberg’s strong showing at the Masters moved him up two spots to a career-best ranking of seventh in the world. Meanwhile, Schauffele’s eighth-place finish has also seen him rise by two places, propelling him to the third spot in the OWGR, surpassing Jon Rahm and Wyndham Clark.

Rory McIlroy, who played the opening rounds with Scheffler and Schauffele, remains in second place. Rahm, the 2023 Masters champion, experienced a drop in the rankings after his tie for 45th place at this year’s tournament, as the LIV Golf events he has participated in do not award OWGR points.

The performance of Tiger Woods at the Masters also garnered attention, as the 15-time major winner made the cut for the 24th consecutive time at the event. Despite a challenging weekend, Woods’ participation in an official event for the first time since the 2023 Genesis Invitational led to a significant jump in the OWGR, from 959th to 784th.
