May 04, (THEWILL) – Liverpool kept up their impressive form with a 1-0 win over Fulham, moving them closer to fourth-placed Manchester United in the English Premier League standings.
Mohamed Salah’s penalty gave the Reds the lead before half-time, taking him to 185 goals for the club, just one behind Steven Gerrard. Despite the victory, Liverpool still trail United by four points and are hoping for a slip-up from their rivals, who have two games in hand.
After dominating the first half with the 39th-minute penalty lead by Salah, Liverpool could not quite manage to replicate that dominance in the second half only managing to dominate possession in the opposition half. Still, they had to rely on Alisson Becker’s reflexes to keep out a late effort from Carlos Vinicius and secure the three points.
Reds manager, Jurgen Klopp, was on his best behaviour following a misconduct charge for comments about the referee in their previous match against Tottenham. He has expectedly been charged for improper conduct by the England FA and has until Friday to respond to the charge.
Liverpool will be hoping to maintain their form when they take on Brentford next Saturday. Fulham, meanwhile, will face Leicester on Monday. Klopp will be hoping for another positive result to maintain their slim hopes of qualifying for the UEFA Champions League.
