Salah Expected To Honour Liverpool Contract Despite Exit Rumours

April 29, (THEWILL) – Liverpool talisman Mohamed Salah is anticipated to honour the remaining year of his contract at Anfield, despite reports of a touchline spat with outgoing manager Jurgen Klopp. The 31-year-old Egyptian forward, who has scored 24 goals this season, was seen exchanging heated words with Klopp as he prepared to come on as a substitute during Liverpool’s 2-2 draw at West Ham on Saturday.

Salah fuelled speculation over his future by stating, “There’s going to be a fire today if I speak”, in his post-match comments. However, there are no indications that the forward is asking to leave, and Liverpool have no plans to sell him this summer.

The Reds rejected substantial offers, including a reported £150 million bid from Saudi Arabian club Al Ittihad, for Salah’s services at the beginning of the 2023/2024 season. With Klopp’s impending departure at the end of the campaign, questions have arisen over the futures of Liverpool’s senior players.

The Saudi Pro League, backed by the nation’s sovereign wealth fund, is expected to be a major player in the upcoming summer transfer window, aiming to attract more high-profile names to join the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar and Sadio Mane. Despite Liverpool’s underwhelming season, which has seen them fall out of the English Premier League title race and exit the Europa League and FA Cup, Salah’s goal-scoring abilities remain a valuable asset.

Salah has just over 12 months remaining on the three-year deal he signed in 2022, worth a reported £18 million per year. However, his form has dipped since suffering an injury at the Africa Cup of Nations in January.
