September 06, (THEWILL) – Arsenal winger, Bukayo Saka, has been voted England Men’s Player of the Year for the second successive season, the England Football Association confirmed on Tuesday.
The 22-year-old Arsenal star finished ahead of midfielder, Jude Bellingham and striker, Harry Kane, in the voting by fans for the 2022/2023 campaign. He scored an impressive seven goals in 10 appearances over the last 12 months for the Three Lions, including a hat-trick against North Macedonia in a Euro 2024 qualifier and three goals at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
He was awarded Player of the Match in England’s opening 6-2 World Cup win over Iran, as well as in the victories against Ukraine and North Macedonia in qualifying for Euro 2024.
Saka, who recently turned 22, was surprised with the news at the England training base at St George’s Park. He was also named PFA Young Player of the Year and included in the PFA Premier League Team of the Year for the 2022/2023 season.
The England Women’s Player of the Year for 2022/2023 will be revealed later this month, the FA noted.
