September 30, (THEWILL) – The Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Makurdi, Wilfred Anagbe, has described the late sacristan, Rose Jekele, as someone who dedicated her life to the services of God and humanity.
Bishop Anagbe, who made the description at the Requiem mass in honour of the deceased at the Catholic Youth Centre church, Makurdi, on Monday, noted that the late older sister of Rose had donated a piece of land at Aliade in Gwer East local for the church.
According to Bishop Anagbe, even though he was not close to the deceased, Miss Jekele was up and doing pastoral work at the Catholic Youth Centre Parish whenever he came on pastoral work.
He, therefore, called on Christians to prepare themselves when alive, adding that the Almighty God will grant her soul eternal rest.
In a homily, the parish priest, Catholic Youth Centre church, Revd Fr Shima Ukpanya, described the deceased as key to service delivery, as she was always available to serve people.
Father Ukpanya, noted that the parish will find it difficult to find her replacement given her dedication to duty and called on members of the church to emulate her lifestyle.
Roseline Jekele who was baptised in the Catholic Church was a member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and Immaculate Heart of Mary, a member of Tiv CBMN, a benefactor of SSVP and the Chief Sacristan of Catholic Youth Centre Parish Makurdi.
As a known sickler and as it is peculiar with them, Rose was always in and out of the hospital right from childhood.
However, on September 19, 2024, she slipped and fell in the toilet which resulted in her death, and is survived by many God-children, brothers, sisters, and friends among others.
Her remains were committed to Mother Earth, behind the Ayati Pilgrimage Centre, in the Gwer East local Government area in the early hours of the day.
