BEVERLY HILLS, October 16, (THEWILL) – The Italian sports minister says Portuguese and Juventus forward Cristiano Ronaldo may have broken health rules when he returned to Italy after testing positive for COVID-19 in Portugal.
The superstar striker flew back to Italy in a private jet on Wednesday, October 14 to self-quarantine at his luxurious home in Turin.
When asked while on a radio interview if Ronaldo might have contravened protocols and health rules in place for the coronavirus pandemic, Vincenzo Spadafora, the sports minister replied, “Yes, I think so, if there hadn’t been any specific authorisation from the health authority.”
However, on the other hand, Juventus president Andrea Agnelli does not believe any rules had been broken.
“You must call the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of the Interior and have them explain what has been violated,” Agnelli responded when queried.
The Italian club said on Wednesday that Ronaldo had returned on a medical flight, which in their own words, was “authorised by the competent health authorities”.

Ronaldo played a friendly against Spain on Wednesday, October 7 and a UEFA Nations League match against France four days later before he tested positive for COVID-19 and was forced to miss their 3-0 win over Sweden on Wednesday, October 14.
