November 14, (THEWILL) – Cristiano Ronaldo revealed in an open conversation with Piers Morgan that he feels “betrayed” by the way Manchester United has treated him since his comeback this season and believes the club is attempting to get rid of him.

Ronaldo, who currently has his sights set on helping Portugal win its first World Cup title when the 2022 FIFA World Cup kicks off in Qatar in seven days, took some time off to consider his season with Manchester United.

The superstar left United in 2009 to join Real Madrid but decided to come back to Old Trafford for the 2021/2022 season. He played for Los Blancos for nine seasons before joining Juventus in 2018. He signed a two-year contract with the Red Devils in August 2021 with an option for a third year. Ronaldo’s return to Old Trafford, nevertheless, has not gone as he had hoped.

Last season, he scored 24 goals in all competitions, but Manchester United finished sixth in the EPL and lost in the round of 16 in the UEFA Champions League. They are currently competing in the UEFA Europa League and are now ranked fifth in the EPL.

Ronaldo emphasised that he is dissatisfied with the club since it has not advanced or improved since he departed in 2009. Later, he clarified what might have been the conflict between him and his new manager, Erik ten Hag, that resulted in his suspension. Appearing resolved to leave the club, he said: “If you don’t have respect for me, I’m never gonna have respect for you.”
