Robert Lewandowski Ties Second Highest Goal Haul In Bundesliga

BEVERLY HILLS, March 14, (THEWILL) – Goal machine Robert Lewandowski, the Polish striker for Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich has notched up enough goals to draw level with Schalke legend Klaus Fisher as the second highest-scorer in Bundesliga history.

He scored to add flourish to Bayern’s victory over Werder Bremen to chalk up his 268th goal for the Bavarian greats on Saturday at the wohninvest WEDERSTADION in Bremen.

That third Bayern goal was the forward’s 32nd this season and gave him the record-equalling goal, and goal to tie up with Fisher’s haul.

However, Gerd Müller, one of the finest goalscorers of Bundesliga and another Bayern great will continue to lead the overall standings for some time. His 365 Bundesliga strikes remains in tact, keeping him at the top of the scorers chart.

With 32 so far, Lewandowski does have his cohort’s single-season record of 40 goals in his sights and no one will bet against the Pole reaching that threshold with his form this season and the various competitions and matches still left to play in the season.

Müller – a seven-time Torjägerkanone winner – hit 40 as Bayern won the league in 1971/272. And Lewandowski has averaged 1.4 goals per game this season. With nine games left after this weekend, he is on course to end up closer to 45 goals for the campaign.
