October 08, (THEWILL) – The new Police commissioner in Rivers State, Mustapha Mohammed Bala, has assured residents of the state of adequate security.

Speaking at his maiden media briefing at the Command’s headquarters in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, CP Bala noted that he has been briefed on the political situations in the State.

He disclosed that calmness will be restored in the Local Government Areas where pockets of violence and arson attacks have been reported, as he is committed to collaborating with state and non-state actors to address the challenges head-on.

The 46th Rivers State Commissioner of Police, also noted that adequate security personnel will be deployed to the local government areas to ensure security of lives and property.

The Commissioner stated that he is aware that Rivers State, being one of the nation’s economic hubs, faces unique security challenges, and requires a proactive and strategic approach.

He added that his priority is to ensure the safety, security and well-being of all residents and visitors in Rivers State.

THEWILL reports that the outgone Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Disu officially handed over to the new Commissioner before leaving the Command on Tuesday.

CP Mustapha Mohammed Bala hails from Sandamu Local Government Area of Katsina State. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the Bayero University, Kano; and a Masters Degree in Law and Criminal Justice from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.Rivers New CP Assumes Office.

Enlisted into the Nigeria Police in 1992 as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police, Bala was until his new appointment as Rivers State Commissioner of Police, CP in Katsina.Rivers New CP Assumes Office.

He had served as Abia Commissioner of Police and Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department, Owerri, Imo State.

Bala had also served as Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations in Zone 3, Yola and the Kaduna State Command. He was also Deputy Commissioner in charge of Zone 6, CID, Calabar, and Cross River State, amongst others.
