August 09, (THEWILL) — Former Managing Director of the Edo Broadcasting Service (EBS) and renowned broadcaster, Sulaiman Aledeh, has lost his mother, Hajia Rukayyah Aledeh, who died on Saturday, August 8, 2026.
The passing of the family matriarch was announced in a statement issued on behalf of the family by Hon. Hud Aledeh, who said the family accepted the loss with complete submission to the will of Allah.
“Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Ilayhi Raji’un, With total submission to the will of Allah (SWT), we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother Hajia Rukayyah Aledeh”, the statement read.
According to the announcement, the Janazah (funeral) prayer for the late Hajia Rukayyah Aledeh was scheduled to be held immediately after Zuhr Salah at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 9, 2026, at Ibadurrahman Masjid, Lucky Igbinedion Way, Ikpoba Hill, Benin City, Edo State.
The family invited relatives, friends, associates, neighbours and members of the Muslim community to join in offering funeral prayers and seeking Allah’s mercy for the deceased.

The Aledeh family described Hajia Rukayyah Aledeh as a beloved mother and grandmother whose life was defined by faith, compassion and unwavering devotion to her family.
The family prayed that Allah would forgive her sins, overlook her shortcomings and admit her into Jannatul Firdaus, the highest abode in Paradise.
They also prayed that her grave would be illuminated and expanded, transformed into one of the gardens of Paradise, while asking Allah to grant her eternal peace and reward her with His infinite mercy.
Beyond prayers for the deceased, the family appealed for divine strength, patience and comfort to help them cope with what it described as an irreparable loss.

News of Hajia Rukayyah Aledeh’s death has attracted an outpouring of sympathy from colleagues, friends and associates of Sulaiman Aledeh, many of whom have expressed condolences and prayed for the peaceful repose of her soul.
Aledeh is one of Nigeria’s most recognised broadcast journalists, with a career spanning television, radio and digital media. He previously served as Managing Director of the Edo Broadcasting Service and has remained an influential voice in Nigerian journalism through his work as a television anchor, media entrepreneur and public affairs commentator.
The late Hajia Rukayyah Aledeh is survived by her children, grandchildren and other relatives.
