July 05, (THEWILL) – The Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arc. Ahmad Musa Dangiwa, has said the Renewed Hope Housing Programme was planned to unlock the massive potential of housing development to create jobs, uplift lives and boost the economic power of Nigerians.

This was contained in a statement issued to newsmen on Friday by the Special Adviser, Media and Publicity to the Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Malam Adamu Abdullahi.

According to the release, Dangiwa made the statement through the Minister of State For Housing and Urban Development, Abdullahi Tijjani Muhammad Gwarzo, during the groundbreaking foundation laying of the construction of 250 housing units of the Presidential Renewed Hope Estate in Makurdi, Benue State, on Friday.

“I want to state that under the Renewed Hope Agenda of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmad Tinubu, GCFR, we at the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development are very particular about giving Nigerians value for their money,” he said.

According to him, the project is being funded diligently from the N50 billion 2023 Supplementary Budget approved for the Ministry by the President to ensure sustainability, quality and geographical spread.

He explained that the provision of land in a good location by the state is a key condition for executing the Renewed Hope Housing project.

The Minister said the twelve states covered under the 2023 Supplementary Budget were those that first provided lands, adding that states that are yet to be covered would be included in the Ministry’s 2024 Budget.

He further revealed that work had already commenced at each of the sites already launched with construction going on across the states.

He said the plan is to have all the houses completed within the next couple of months and made available to Nigerians in line with the President’s desire to provide quality and affordable houses for all Nigerians.

Dangiwa charged the contractors to ensure that they build according to specifications, warning that substandard work from any developer would not be tolerated and would explore all necessary legal means to ensure that they deliver as per the contract specifications.

The Minister assured Nigerians that different options have been created to enable everyone who has a source of income and livelihood to own these homes when they are completed.

He thanked President Tinubu for providing the vision and political will necessary to make a difference in terms of delivering decent and quality housing to Nigerians.
