January 26, (THEWILL) – Benue state chapter of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), has challenged governor Samuel Ortom to write his name in gold by renaming Benue State University, Makurdi, after former governor Moses Orshio Adasu.

The state chairman of the party, Engr John Enemari who threw the challenge during a chat with newsmen on Tuesday in Makurdi, noted with disgust that Adasu’s legacies have been wasted by successive administrations in the state.

Engr Enemari while insisting that he remains the substantive chairman of the party in Benue state, described Benue as the number one in embezzlement of public funds accruing into the state treasury by government officials.

“Adasu did very well during his short tenure as governor of Benue state by establishing Benue state university, Makurdi and College of Education Oju and other human development policies put in place.”

According to him, the monthly federal allocation accruing into Benue account was more than Ebonyi but projects were going on there including Borno state which seems to be the headquarters of Boko Haram.

The SDP state chairman announced that at the moment, five gubernatorial aspirants have indicated interest in the 2023 general election that are qualified to take over the PDP-led Ortom administration would have stopped on 29th May, 2023.

He however, expressed the fear that the crisis rocking the headquarters of the party in Abuja, where three people are parading themselves as national chairman is capable of affecting its outing in Benue state come 2023.

Responding to a question, Engr Enemari said, despite the crisis in the SDP, he is not ready to defect to either the PDP or APC as he preferred to play opposition politics to correct the ills in the system.

Describing one Edmond Akende as an impostor, who is still parading himself as the State Secretary of SDP, called on members of the public to distance themselves from his ‘criminal’ activities of extortion.

He called on the leader of the party, Chief Olu Falie to intervene in the crisis with the aim of resolving issues amicably for the good of all.
