Remo Stars’ NPFL Momentum Halted by Shooting Stars

March 18, (THEWILL)- Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan (3SC) earned a comfortable 2-0 victory over Remo Stars in their South-West derby clash on Sunday.

Striker Christian Pyagbara was the hero for the hosts, netting a goal in each half to ensure the Oluyole Warriors claimed their first-ever NPFL win over their Sky Blue Stars counterparts. The 17th minute saw Pyagbara open the scoring, and he doubled the lead in the 80th minute to seal all three points for 3SC.

The victory moves Shooting Stars up to 6th place in the NPFL standings with 40 points from 26 games, while Remo Stars remain in 5th position, having accumulated 42 points from the same number of matches played. The result will be a morale booster for the Ibadan-based side as they continue their push for a top-three finish and potential continental qualification.

For Remo Stars, the defeat halts their momentum after an impressive run of form in recent weeks. However, with nine games still to play, the Sky Blue Stars will be confident of bouncing back and maintaining their challenge for a place in next season’s CAF interclub competitions.

The NPFL continues to provide exciting matches and unpredictable results and, while Remo Stars regroup, Shooting Stars will look to build on this derby result as the season enters its crucial final stages.
