Remains Of Late Uguedjobayire Ighojopha Laid To Rest

February 23, (THEWILL) – The remains of Racheal Uguedjobayire Ighojopha (Nee Okioma), who died at the ripe age of 94, has been laid to rest at Egbo quarter of Uwheru, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta state.

The burial ceremony started with the collection of her remains from Mercy mortuary, Ughelli in a motorcade to her father’s compound at Uruokpokpo, Ehere Quarter where the body was received by family members and thereafter, interred at Egbo quarter, according to her wish.

According to the biography read by her son, Mr Monday Ighojopha, a chieftain of the APC, the late Racheal Uguedjobayire Ighojopha was born into the family of Okioma Ebiku of Uruokpokpo street, Ehere, Uwheru, in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta state on October 24, 1928.

She was married to the late Ezekiel Ighojopha Okoro of Egbo quarter, in Uwheru, and the marriage was blessed with eight children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He said the late mama was a very social person, a businesswoman and philanthropist, who invested her time and resources in her children, non-biological children and other members of the family.

“We were made to understand that since she got married to the late Ezekiel Ighojopha Okoro, she never left her matrimonial home with annoyance and she generously shared with anybody in need”, he stated.

He said she was God-fearing and dedicated her life to serving God. As a Christian, she was baptised in Church of God Mission International in Benin city until she passed on November 13, 2022.

In his tribute, Olorogun Aherhoke Amos Okioma, a Bayelsa-based media practitioner, said it was difficult to distinguish between her and his mother because she was always there for him and will be greatly missed by the entire family and community.

“As a young man growing up l can never forget your generosity as l learned you merited the name mama from your tender age because you cared for everybody, not only your biological children. Mama, you have completed your race, may the all-mighty God grant you eternal rest until we meet to part no more”, he stated.

Other family members including children, grandchildren, sons-in-law and daughters-in-law, in their various tributes, described the late Mrs Ighojopha as a noblewoman, who lived a fulfilled life and contributed immensely to the lives of many.

The high point of the burial rites was the in-law greetings, which were led by the most senior in-law, an Ogun state-based entrepreneur, Mr Micheal Ejuvwevwo.

Dignitaries including the President General of Uwheru kingdom, Chief Macpherson Igbedi, Olorogun Charles Oruru, the President of Urhobo Progress Union, Bayelsa state chapter, Mr Anthony Adjukughene, a chieftain of Urhobo Progress Union, Elder Emmanuel Oboro, Elder Andrew Ukpemekun, Olorogun Cassius Efe Okiki, Emmanuel Okpidiama, Bar. Igho Arhagba, Mr Godspower Eboh, Stanley Odjugo, Comrade Isaac Ogbe, Mr Famous Eboh, Mr Efeurhobo Misho, Mr Okagbare Ukpemekun, Majesty Ariemukeke, BB Abruda and Akpos Ukpemekun as well as APC entourage led by Bar. Spencer Owhofa, who is contesting for Delta state house of Assembly attended the funeral.

In their separate interviews with newsmen, Olorogun Aherhoke Amos Okioma and Mr Monday Ighojopha, the chief mourner and first son respectively, expressed their appreciation and gratitude to friends, associations, clubs, corporate organisations and all those who stood by the family for their prayers, financial contributions and words of consolation.
