August 23, (THEWILL) — The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, has called on Nigerians to reject division, intolerance and violence as the country approaches another electoral season.
Yilwatda made the call in a message commemorating Eid-ul-Mawlid, the annual celebration of the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad, in his goodwill message to Muslims across Nigeria.
The APC chairman urged Nigerians to draw inspiration from the Prophet’s teachings and virtues to promote peace, unity and national cohesion.

“As we approach another electoral season, we must reject division, intolerance and violence”, Yilwatda said, stressing that political competition should not be allowed to undermine the bonds of brotherhood and national unity among Nigerians.
The APC chairman’s appeal comes as political activities and preparations gradually intensify ahead of another electoral cycle, with stakeholders increasingly expected to promote issue-based engagement and peaceful political participation.
Yilwatda maintained that no political contest should be allowed to destroy the relationships and shared national identity that bind Nigerians together, emphasising the need for tolerance and responsible conduct regardless of political differences.

While felicitating with the Muslim faithful, Yilwatda described the occasion as an opportunity to reflect on values capable of strengthening the country at a challenging period in its national journey.
According to him, the virtues exemplified by the Holy Prophet Muhammad remain relevant to Nigeria’s current circumstances, particularly in promoting healing, unity and renewed hope among citizens.
He also called on the Muslim Ummah to use the spiritual significance of Eid-ul-Mawlid to pray for lasting peace, security and prosperity in Nigeria, as well as wisdom for the nation’s leaders.
