September 11, (THEWILL) – Real Madrid defeated Mallorca 4-1 at the Santiago Bernabeu, after coming from behind to regain the top spot in La Liga.

The hosts fell behind when Mallorca’s in-form Vedat Muriqi scored with a header, but Federico Valverde tied the score just before halftime with an incredible individual effort.

18 minutes from the end, Carlo Ancelotti’s team added to the score, thanks to a fourth straight La Liga goal from Vinicius Junior. Late in the game, Rodrygo scored his own impressive solo goal and Antonio Rudiger netted his first goal for the team to wrap up the scoring.

Los Blancos, who have won their first five league games for the first time since the 2009/2010 campaign, are still the only side in the top five European leagues to have a perfect record this season.

The Madrid derby versus Atletico Madrid is the next domestic league game for the hosts but before that, they welcome Leipzig to the Bernabeu in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday. Mallorca will play against Almeria in their next tie on Saturday.
