December 20, (THEWILL) – The founder of One Love Family, Satguru Maharaj ji has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to open the southern borders now for business to commence in earnest and save many souls who have lost hope.

Maharaj jí, who said this while addressing journalists in Lagos on Sunday as part of activities to mark his 74th physical birthday, said the closure of the southern borders has left many Nigerians unable “to pay for their house rent, shops, feed their families and paying for their children’s school fees and subjected them to other forms of hardships.

“This close down is denting the image of the present government as it is being seen as a tribal and hegemonic.”

He pointed out that police, customs, immigration, and army personnel are all there to make sure that illegal trafficking, smuggling and other allied border breakdown of law and orders are controlled.

Maharaj ji reminded President Buhari that Nigerians are very lawful people but said without means of livelihood they would not be able to walk and think straight, saying “this has been our culture from the beginning, we were born into a Nigeria that is buoyant, strong, solid, foundational, rich in resources and materials, power, conscience and wisdom.

“We are therefore begging Mr President in the name of all the divine forces of love and Gods of our Ancestors who are now in control of Nigeria, to please help to open the southern borders and thank you in advance for your fatherly care.”

On the threat by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to go on strike soon, Maharaj ji urged the president to pay all outstanding arrears due to ASUU members, medical doctors and all polytechnic staff in all states of the federation.

He said another round of university closure will negatively affect the future of Nigerian youths.

“Also payments due to all retired members of the public and private service should be paid to them.

“The president should pay state retirees money from the State allocation directly and give the balance for the states,” he said.

He added that the recent 20 percent increase in police earnings is not enough, saying it should be jacked up to 40 percent.
