May 4, (THEWILL)- Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya has won the 2023/2024 English Premier League Golden Glove award after keeping 15 clean sheets this season. The Spanish shot-stopper achieved this feat following Arsenal’s 3-0 victory over Bournemouth.
Raya’s closest competitor, Jordan Pickford of Everton, could only match the Arsenal keeper’s tally of 14 clean sheets. With Everton having just two games remaining, Pickford cannot surpass Raya’s impressive mark. This achievement culminates in an outstanding individual campaign for the 28-year-old.
Although Raya endured a shaky start to the season, he overcame early nerves to become an impenetrable force between the sticks. Initially left out of Brentford’s squad and behind Aaron Ramsdale at Arsenal, Raya made his EPL debut for the Gunners in a 1-0 win over Everton in September.
Raya’s form skyrocketed in 2024, registering 10 clean sheets in 15 appearances as Arsenal mounted a formidable title challenge against Manchester City. His consistent performances have prompted Arsenal to consider making his loan move permanent this summer.
