February 09, (THEWILL) – Manchester United was saved by Jadon Sancho’s first Premier League goal in months, in a 2-2 draw against Leeds United at Old Trafford.
The match started brightly for Leeds, with Wilfried Gnonto’s early strike impressing the Old Trafford crowd. The combination of Tyler Adams and Pascal Struijk won possession in United’s half, leading to Gnonto’s goal. Leeds continued to threaten, but David de Gea made a crucial save to deny Struijk a headed goal.
In the second half, Leeds extended their lead with an own goal from Raphael Varane, but United quickly responded with Marcus Rashford scoring. Despite Leeds still posing a danger, with Brenden Aaronson hitting the post, the next goal was the equaliser from Jadon Sancho.
United continued to push forward, with Varane coming close with a header, but the match ended in a 2-2 draw. The two teams will face each other again in just four days, with the match taking place at Elland Road on Sunday.
