Rangers Appoint Beale As Van Bronckhorst Replacement

November 28, (THEWILL) – Michael Beale has been named as Rangers’ new manager. The 42-year-old Beale left his position at Championship side Queens Park Rangers and has joined the Scottish Premiership team on a four-year contract.

It was revealed recently that Rangers were close to hiring Beale after a deal with QPR was reached. Rangers had been given the go-ahead to negotiate with Beale about taking over after the team parted ways with Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

Rangers agreed to pay the asking fee to release the manager from his present contract in west London and Beale arrived in Glasgow on Sunday evening to seal the deal. After signing, Beale said: “It is fantastic to be back and to see everybody this morning, there are some new faces but some people that I know really well so it is great to see everyone.

“I am hugely proud, it is a wonderful, wonderful football club, it is an institution. For everyone that works here it is a huge privilege, but to be the manager of this football club is extremely special. Some wonderful people have sat in this chair prior to me, and I am hugely proud to be the person sitting here now.”

After declining an opportunity to work at Wolves last month, Beale’s connection to Rangers and his relationship with their Sporting Director Ross Wilson played a significant role in his choice to leave QPR at this time. Prior to leaving Steven Gerrard in the summer to become the manager at QPR, Beale served as the first-team coach for Gerrard at Rangers, when the two won the Scottish Premiership.
