September 19, (THEWILL) – Arsenal goalkeeper, Aaron Ramsdale, is not looking to leave the club despite sitting out Arsenal’s 1-0 win at Goodison Park against Everton.

THEWILL recalls that Ramsdale was dropped to the bench for that tie on Sunday, with summer signing, David Raya, making his debut between the sticks instead. Manager Mikel Arteta has made it clear he wants competition for places across the team. He has even suggested rotating keepers mid-match to change the flow of a game.

This has led to speculation that the England international could depart Arsenal. However, sources close to Ramsdale have denied he is angling for a transfer. The keeper is said to be determined to battle Raya for the number one jersey. His representatives have not held talks with other clubs about a potential move away from Arsenal as the club still sees Ramsdale as central to their future plans.

The situation could change if Raya has cemented himself as the first choice by January. Premier League rivals Chelsea are known to be monitoring Ramsdale’s circumstances at Arsenal. The Blues are keen to bring in another keeper for the long term despite signing Robert Sanchez and Djordje Petrovic this summer.

Chelsea retain interest in Porto’s Diogo Costa and Valencia’s Giorgi Mamardashvili as potential options between the sticks. The pair were targets for Chelsea before they eventually moved for Sanchez and Petrovic.
