September 28, (THEWILL) – Sensational tennis teenager Emma Raducanu has donated the Nike outfit she was wearing during her US Open run to the Tennis Hall of Fame.
After battling through qualifying to win the tournament, Raducanu became the first British woman to win a Grand Slam since Virginia Wade did 44 years ago.
Since her remarkable victory over fellow teenager Leylah Fernandez in the final, the 18-year-old has been the subject of intense media scrutiny.
She went to the glitzy Met Gala with A-list celebrities, became an ambassador for luxury jewelry brand, Tiffany, and played tennis with the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, at a homecoming event.
The world number 22 has now donated her final outfit to the Hall of Fame in Newport, Rhode Island, USA.
This was disclosed in a twet by the Tennis Hall of Fame offciial account.
The tweet said, “A legendary run: preserved. Thank you, @EmmaRaducanu, for donating your memorable #USOpen outfit to the ITHF collection!”
As THEWILL reported, Raducanu parted ways with her coach, Andrew Richardson, who helped her win the US Open, last week. She is currently looking for a coach with more Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) Tour experience to help her to build on her breakthrough success.
Raducanu has yet to decide whether she will compete in the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, which begins on October 4. However, she has her sights set on the Australian Open in 2022 regardless of the quarantine situation and made her determination known when she said: “Whatever needs to be done to be able to play the Australian I’ll do. It’s not even in my mind, I just want to be at the Australian Open, and want to compete there so whatever it takes to do, I’ll go.”
