RAAP To Construct 300km Roads, Warehouses In Benue – Coordinator

May 13, (THEWILL) – Rural Access and Agriculture Marketing Projects (RAAP), says it has designed 300 kilometres of roads for construction to ease farmers’ burden of transporting their produce to the market.

The State Coordinator of the Project, Mr Steve Numbeve, in chat in Makurdi on Saturday, noted that the Benue office of RAAP is at the moment, working for an additional 200km of roads across the state to be submitted to its head office in Abuja for consideration.

According to him, the Benue State Government has already made available its counterpart funds obligations awaiting the release of funds from RAAP headquarters.

“When my office accesses the funds, construction of Bridges and culverts will commence on the designated roads before the end of June this year.”

He added that 43 roads of 500km will also be constructed across the 23 local Government Areas across the state.

The RAAP State Coordinator, further announced that six model warehouses will be constructed in the three senatorial districts with Benue North East having it at Ihugh and Zaki-Biam.

In Benue’s northwest, the Warehouses will be located at Gboko and Makurdi, while Otukpo and Oju are the places where the project will be sited.

Commenting on Governor Hyacinth Alia’s one year in office, Mr Numbeve applauded the governor’s resilience in what he referred to as “recalibrating every sector of the state economy”, noting that Benue people will be better for it.
