February 08, (THEWILL) – Manchester United Football Club could be on the brink of a significant change with a group of Qatari investors reportedly preparing to make an offer to buy the club.
THEWILL recalls that current owner, the Glazer family, has set a deadline of mid-February for bids, as they appear intended to cave into the pressure from fans to leave, and the Qatari group is expected to make their offer in the coming days.
Under the guidance of Manager Erik ten Hag, United has been performing well, currently sitting in third place in the English Premier League and on the brink of winning the EFL Cup final. With Manchester City and Liverpool facing various crises, a lucrative takeover could give United the financial backing it needs to lead the club back to reckoning.
The Qatari investors are confident their bid will be successful and best any efforts by others to compete in the process of change of ownership.
The interest in United comes after the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, and the investors see ownership of the club as a way to secure one of the “crown jewels” of English football in particular and the footballing world in general.
