November 23, (THEWILL) – Before England’s next World Cup match against the US men’s national team, Harry Kane will have an ankle scan to confirm his fitness to feature.

THEWILL recalls that three minutes into the second half of Monday’s match, Morteza Pouraliganji tackled the 29-year-old England captain, bringing him to the ground in apparent pain. Yet, until the 75th minute, when he was substituted for fellow striker, Callum Wilson, Kane was able to continue.

When he was substituted, Kane walked with a minor limp and his right ankle was gently wrapped after the game. The injury is being evaluated by the English FA ahead of Friday, despite Gareth Southgate’s efforts to allay concerns that he could need to sit out for a while.

In the wake of England’s 6-2 victory over Iran, Southgate stated: “I think Harry’s fine. It looked like a bad tackle but he carried on in the game. We took him off because we felt it was a moment in the game we could do that.”

Kane registered two assists, setting up Raheem Sterling in the first half and Marcus Rashford in the closing minutes of the second. The Tottenham Hotspur forward needs only three more goals to break the all-time scoring record for England.
