PSG Move Four Points Clear In Ligue 1 With 5-2 Win Over Monaco

November 25, (THEWILL) – Paris St Germain extended their lead at the top of Ligue 1 to four points after a 5-2 victory over third-placed AS Monaco in an entertaining encounter at Parc des Princes on Friday. PSG displayed ruthless finishing with five different goalscorers, making it six consecutive league wins.

Despite Monaco contributing to an open contest just three points behind the leaders coming into this match, they had no response to PSG’s attacking prowess led by Kylian Mbappé’s 14th league goal of the campaign from the penalty spot. Monaco twice managed to equalise through Takumi Minamino and Folarin Balogun but defensive errors ultimately cost them.

After Gonçalo Ramos opened the scoring following Philipp Köhn’s spilt save to give PSG the lead in the 18th minute, Minamino quickly levelled just four minutes later punishing Gianluigi Donnarumma’s poor clearance. Despite creating several openings, Monaco then conceded three times in quick succession to put the match beyond reach.

Mbappé’s 38th-minute penalty reclaimed the lead after PSG was awarded a spot kick when Ousmane Dembélé was brought down in the box. Dembélé himself extended the advantage, curling in an angled effort from a clever flick inside the box in the 51st. Vitinha added a delightful fourth two minutes later with a curling strike off the post from the edge of the area.

Balogun pulled one back in the 75th finishing off an Aleksandr Golovin pass but Monaco were exposed again from a set piece allowing substitute Randal Kolo Muani to seal an emphatic victory for table-topping PSG deep into second-half stoppage time.
